County Senior Hurling League
Round 1 Tuesday 19 June
Venue: Bruree
Kilmallock 2-18 Bruree 1-11
This game was really over as a contest by half time as Kilmallock led by 2-10 to 1-4 having played with the aid of a fairly stiffish wind in the first half.
We were again minus the services of our three county men as well as three others who were either unable to be present or unable to play due to injuries.
However this gave other members of the panel an opportunity to impress the team management.
The team lined out as follows:
Barry Hennessy, Liam Hurley, Mark O’Loughlin, John Meade, Robbie Egan, Bryan O’Sullivan , Conor Crowley, Eoin Ryan 0-1, Aaron Costello 0-1, Jake Mulcahy 0-2, Paudie O’Dwyer 0-1, Kevin O’Donnell 0-7, Eamonn McGuire 1-1. Shane O’Donnell 0-5, Derek O’Mahony1-0
County Senior Hurling League
Round 4 Friday 22 June
Venue: Kilmallock
Kilmallock 1-17 Croom 1-11
Kilmallock made up somewhat for the defeat to Croom in the South final a few weeks ago and gained another precious two points which now sees them top the group with four wins from four.
This win was certainly hard earned as Croom , playing with the aid of a strong wind, took the game to Kilmallock and deservedly led at half time by 1-6 to 0-5.
The boys set about their task, in a more positive frame of mind in the second half, and began to reduce the deficit with some great scores coming from Eoin Ryan and Shane O’Donnell.
Croom however replied with some lovely scores of their own and refused to lie down. It was nip and tuck going into the final eight minutes. Kilmallock began to up the tempo with the introduction of Bryan O’Sullivan. Kieran Kenneally also came on as a sub, caught a great ball and scored a fantastic point. This score gave a lift to the other players around him and the team went on to close out the game in style.
A feature of this game was the scoring contribution of Eoin Ryan who scored a total of 0-9 from play, frees and sixty fives.
Again it must be said that we were minus our county players as well as a few other members of the panel who were unavailable or not played for various reasons.
Eoin Webb-O’Rourke, Liam Hurley, Mark O’Loughlin, John Meade, Kevin O’Mahony, Philip O’Loughlin, Conor Crowley, Eoin Ryan 0-9, Aaron Costello, Jake Mulcahy 0-2, Robbie Egan, Paudie O’Dwyer 0-2, Eamonn Maguire, Shane O’Donnell 1-3, Derek O’Mahony.
Sub: Kieran Kenneally 0-1
