Under 14 Hurling Championship

Match 25/08/2013

Kilmallock v Mungret   U14

We played our final round robin game in the championship last Sunday at home to Mungret.  If we won this match, it would mean that we topped the group.

We played with the wind in the first half and settled very well.  We had placed our danger man David Woulfe at the edge of the square, where he tormented the Mungret defence, scoring a couple of cracking goals along with some well taken points.  Mungret, as expected came back at us and by half time were only a couple of points down.

We came under a little pressure in the second half but some stern defending, in particular from Andrew Finn and Aidan Enright saw us keep Mungret at bay.

At the other end of the field, Gearóid Barry, who had by now moved to full forward, showed some great skill and tactical nous by adding a cracking goal to our tally. By this stage Mikey Donegan and Liam English had started to dominate at centre field.  David Carroll used his pace to counteract any Mungret attacks that came his way.  He was ably assisted by Dylan O’ Brien.

Some of our players have shown great improvement over the course of this championship.  One such player is Joseph O’ Donnel l.  His courage and strength are a great addition to our panel of players.  Hopefully some of the rest of our players will step up another  10% for our upcoming semi-final against Patrickswell, where we will all need to be at our best.

Dates and times for this game are to follow.
