JP and Noreen McManus sponsored puppy event at Limerick Greyhound Track

THE CON & ANNIE KIRBY PUPPY EVENT TO BE RUN AT LIMERICK GREYHOUND TRACK MARCH 2013

JP & Noreen McManus will sponsor the stake in memory of Noreen’s late parents.
This 525 event for the emerging two year old stars of tomorrow will see 96 dogs race over five weeks for a grand total of €149,500 of which the ultimate winner will receive €80,000 whilst the second and third placed participants will get €20,000 and €10,000 respectively.   This really will be the ultimate feeder event for the Irish Greyhound Derby and also the English Derby.   Qualifying rounds will be held in each of the 19 tracks inIreland as well as 5 in the U.K..

 

IGB Chairman Phil Meaneysaid “We are thrilled about the potential of this fantastic new event for puppies in Irelandwhich firmly establishes our industry as a world leader in exciting racing as well as a breeding nation. This event creates a new niche in Greyhound racing. I believe it recognizes and rewards good young stock which underpins the future of our industry. We expect a worldwide audience and we are extremely grateful to JP and Noreen who want the greyhound industry to further develop in the Midweston the back of the opening of our new stadium”.

Commenting on the event Noreen said ‘ This will be an excitingLimerickevent for the greyhound industry and my family and I are delighted to be associated with this stake named in honour of our parents Con & Annie Kirby.   Every GAA club in the County will be given a nomination.  There will be an open draw for nominators with a prize fund of €20,000 including €10,000 for the winning Club, and a free benefit night at Limerick Stadium, €5,000 for second, €2,000 for third and €1,000 for the unplaced finalists’.
