Kilmallock 2-18 Ballybrown 3-15

A point from Paudie O’Brien in the 62nd minute of this third round clash was enough to rescue a draw for Kilmallock and both sets of supporters left Bruff pondering on a game that could have gone either way and on reflection both teams will be content with a share of the spoils.

The sides were level five times over the hour and having trailed all through the first half and having gone in at half-time down by five points, Kilmallock started the second-half at a blistering pace. Goals from Robbie Hanley and Oisín O’Reilly had us in front after five minutes of the restart. Kilmallock now threatened to pull clear but Ballybrown refused to give in and the game was in the balance throughout. Ballybrown raised two green flags again in the second half and their third goal put them one point clear with only seconds remaining. The last gasp point was a relief to the Balbec supporters after another nail-biting encounter.
