Super 11s Hurling for Chicago

Congratulations to Gavin O’Mahony, Graeme Mulcahy and Paudi O’Brien on their selection to represent Munster in the Super 11s trip to play an exhibition game against Leinster in Notre Dame University near Chicago. The boys fly out on Wednesday 16th October 2013 for a week-long stay in the US, where they play a number of exhibition games.

Super 11s Hurling is essentially a short form of hurling devised by the GPA and the GAA to popularise and widen hurling’s base. It is a fast, exciting, goals-only game. It is designed specifically with overseas teams in mind where 15 players on each side might be hard to come by. The scoring rules are – three points for a goal scored inside the scoring-zone;five points for a goal scored from outside the zone;a bonus point is awarded for a goal scored when doubling on the ball.

The first exhibition game the “Celtic Champions Classic” will be played on Saturday 19th October 2013 at the University of Notre Dame ahead of the college’s football game against USC later that evening.

Well done boys – enjoy the trip.

Up the Balbec!!
