It was auf wiedershen to our German import Benno Halbig as he set off back home to Nuremberg on Wed 6th June. Benno has been with us since last February where he has been staying with our own Anthony Barrett’s family as part of a language exchange programme.
On his arrival, Benno came up to the field for U14 training as has been an integral part since. He has been a model young lad in his attitude to practice and train in his attempts to master the skills of our games of hulring and gaelic football. In fact he actually scored a goal in one of our games! On a presentation evening held on Tues 5th June, Benno was presented with a hurling momento trophy and a set of gear inlcuding the all important Kilmallock jersey (which he immediately put on) on behalf of the Kilmallock U14s.
The U14 management and players would like to wish Benno all the best for the future and we look forward to maybe hearing of a startup Gaelic Club around Nuremberg in the future with our Benno as its founder!
