WE got the championship off to a winning start last Wed against Monaleen but only just. In what can only be described as a frustating 1st half we trailed Monaleen 1-4 to 1-1 at the break. There were a few choice words at half time and thankfully the lads responded in the second half. Cal and Ciarán got on top at midfield and started getting quality ball into the forwards where Anthony was the pick of the bunch up front. Jason pulled off some great saves and our backs in general kept Monaleen at bay with them only adding 3 points in the second half. Luke came on and added bite up front and Gearoid secured the win beautifully killing the sliothar on the hurley which was then dispatched to the back of the net.
