Round 2 U/21 Hurling Kilmallock v Doon

Venue: Knocklong Date: 11 March
Kilmallock 2-13 Doon 2-3

The U/21 hurlers had a convincing win last Sunday 10 March in Knocklong. Doon were first off the mark with two good points but they flattered to deceive as Kilmallock settled down and went on a scoring spree. The lads completely dominated the first half and led 1-11 to 1-2 at half time. The Doon goalkeeper kept the score respectable as he made some terrific saves.

Kilmallock had the aid of the wind in the second half and continued to dominate play. Unfortunately the lads were guilty of some very poor shooting and with the Doon keeper in inspired form they found scores were difficult to come by.

Having said that they will be pleased with the win which now puts them on top of its group with Adare up next .

We were minus the services of Robbie Egan and Eamonn Leen who should be ready for the next outing.

Kilmallock lined out as follows: Eoin W. O’Rourke, Dillon McCarthy, Mark O’Loughlin, Dave Barry, Donal Barry, Kevin O’Donnell 0-3, Aaron Costello, Donncha Higgins, Niall Hurley, Jake Mulcahy 0-6, Ian Burchill 0-1, Conor Barry 1-1, Paul Doona 0-2, Conor Crowley 1-0, Alan Hayes
